In The Wake Of Your Goodbye, I Linger

This might be a surprise to some of you, considering Ive only really put effort into this blog a few months ago. But no one could be more surprised than me. Most of my projects usually end up failing within a few months, and a majority of them have been web-based. I have some theories as to why this one ended up sticking, but if any of you have talked to me in person, you’d know how many hours of our conversation could be solely based on food.
Of course, this really isn’t that big of a deal. Yet, I feel this is necessary, especially since the blog has developed a readership, of which, I am extremely thankful for. Mainly because I feel your pain. I know some of my articles are long winded, horribly phrased, have absolutely no foot in reality, and stray off into micro-tangents only to veer back into perspective at the very last sentence. While this blog promotes the love of eating and all that jazz, it’s also a way for me to consciously rate myself as a writer. So those of you who follow this blog also play a role in my writing development.
I’m currently enrolled in COMM101 class at Cal State Fullerton. There, I’m learning the essentials of journalistic writing, which is in stark contrast to the verbose drivel that appears on this blog. While I may fancy myself as a passable writer, I’m pretty scared that I might not have what it takes to be a journalist. And so, this blog will help me vent, and help me escape the pressures of, essentially, learning a new language. Ultimately, the I hope that by repositioning the concept behind this blog, (at least for me) Eats The Universe can be to my journalistic development what food is to my life: an escape, and perhaps, the ultimate reward.
Again, I want to thank my readers for keeping up with my stuff. I won’t promise to update daily, because I know that probably won’t be happening. But I’d like to open the floor to any sort of recommendations or suggestions. Pick at my brain if you so desire. If you’ve ever been curious as to my thoughts on a particular subject, I’ll do my best to address that. It’d be fun.
I’ve been mulling through a few new ideas, and those will reveal themselves shortly. I do have other interests, and I’ve been dying to throw them into this blog, but I don’t want to muddy an already complicated concept. But we’ll see. As for right now, I’m just glad I have a creative outlet for my curious mind.
Here’s to the first year. And here’s to whatever the future holds for me, and Eats The Universe. Thanks again.

DANNY my duo buddy! I’m extremely proud of you and I do find myself enjoying your blogs… keep it up!!
yay! congrats on one year.
just because the things you are learning in your journalism class are different than what you are most comfortable with doesn’t mean you don’t have the talent to become a journalist. people like reading articles brimming with a sensible and down-to-earth personality, so just keep doing what you do best. may your blog continue to flourish, danny, i think you will accomplish a lot more than you can predict.
